Questions we hear most
Do you take my dental plan?
We are in network with some plans and out of network with the rest; the list is on the How fees work page. Dental plans often pay part of a crown or a denture and little toward an implant. We check what your plan lists before treatment and give you a written estimate, so you know what we expect you to pay.
What if I don't have insurance?
You pay for each stage as it is done, and you see every fee in writing first. We give a written estimate in advance to anyone paying without insurance. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.
Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?
Our status with Medicaid and CHIP is on the How fees work page, under insurance.
Will it hurt?
We numb the area before surgery, and you can ask for a break at any time. Some soreness and swelling for a few days is common afterward. Dr. Leung tells you what to expect and what to do, and we are a phone call away. We can't promise how any one person will feel.
How long does the whole process take?
Usually several months from the scan to the final teeth, and most of that is healing. Your written plan gives the range for your case, and it can change if your healing does.
What is the difference between an implant bridge and a denture?
An implant bridge is fixed to implants in the jaw, and only the dentist takes it off. A denture rests on the gums and comes out for cleaning; an implant-retained denture clips onto a few implants and still comes out. Dr. Leung goes through all three with your scan.
Will I have teeth while I heal?
Often a temporary tooth, bridge or denture is possible, but not always. It depends on your bone, your bite and the plan. We tell you after the scan, and we don't promise it before.
What if I don't have enough bone?
The scan shows how much you have. Some cases need a bone graft first, and some are not a good fit for implants. We tell you either way, and go through the other ways to replace your teeth.
Who places the implants, and who makes the teeth?
Dr. Leung plans every case and places the implants. She makes the final bridge or denture. Dr. Aksoy, a general dentist, fits the crown on a single-tooth implant after she places it. Dr. Booker, a general dentist, looks after your gums and your check-ups.
Is the scan a lot of radiation?
A cone-beam scan uses a small dose, and we take one only when your plan needs it. Tell us if you are or might be pregnant before any scan.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask when you schedule or at your consult, and we write it down stage by stage. You can take it home and decide.
How do I change or cancel a visit?
Call us or write through the contact page and we will find another time. Surgery visits take extra preparation, so please tell us as early as you can.
What counts as a dental emergency, and what do I do first?
Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a serious blow to the head, or bleeding that won't stop needs emergency care now. Go to an emergency room or call 911. For a loose implant, a broken tooth or a problem that can't wait, call our office.
Still have a question?
Call us or send a message, and we will answer it before you decide.
